It had been a while since we had a decent crowd at Sydney Motorsport Park for a Virgin Australia Supercars Championship round.

It was really great to see Supercars try something new with the Sydney Motorsport Park round and to see it rewarded with the biggest crowd we’ve seen there in a long time. Actually, the fact that the 4G reception stopped working and the crowd were still trying to leave the circuit after midnight when we left definitely indicated the Sydney SuperNight race was a huge success.

We also loved the challenge of shooting Supercars at night and showcasing flames and glowing brakes, aspects to Supercars racing that simply can’t be seen in daylight. Also with some sections of the track floodlit for TV and other sections absent of any lighting, it gave us a variety of options to create interesting photos.

It was also great that the teams got on board with their liveries. Some teams added interesting lights to their cars, while others took advantage of reflective wraps to make sure their cars really popped under the lights.

The event for us was quite busy outside of the Supercars as well with our customers in Australian GT. We were also called up by Carrera Cup Asia at the last minute to provide them with their category photography services for the round.

It was really rewarding to be entrusted that responsibility from an international category and shows the work we’ve been doing has a greater audience beyond Australia.

Below we’ve put together a very small selection of some of our favourite photos from the inaugural Sydney SuperNight race. As always if you’d like to see our recent events head on over to our facebook page.
