Positive start to SuperUtes campaign for Mick Sieders – Press Release
Making his debut in the Castrol backed Toyota Hilux this year, the 24-year-old from Kurrajong kept out of trouble in what turned out to be a chaotic couple of SuperUtes races as part of the support program at the Adelaide 500, the Supercars Championship season opener.
Sieders qualified fifth to commence the weekends running. Avoiding the carnage at the first race of the weekend, a reverse grid race, the young racer moved to seventh before the race was put under the control of the safety car before the end of the first lap and ultimately finished early preventing him for making any further progress.
In the second race, Sieders kept out of trouble again as his rivals got tangled up ahead of him to finish the race in fourth in scorching, over 40 degrees conditions for the second day in a row.
Sieders then backed that up with a fifth in the last race of the weekend, to secure himself fourth in the championship standings at the conclusion of the opening round.
“It was my first time driving the Toyota Hilux, so it’s great to walk away from Adelaide fourth overall in points and to bring home a clean straight car is always a positive,” said Seiders after the weekend.
“It was tough hot racing this weekend and the team worked tirelessly all weekend to make sure I had the best race car possible to get the job done.”
Mick would like to thank all his supporters for assistance to make it on the grid for the 2019 ECB SuperUtes Series, including:
