George Gutierrez Confident Heading Into 2019 Toyota 86 Racing Series – Press Release

South Australian racer George Gutierrez is gearing up for his second season in Toyota 86 Racing Series commencing this weekends opening round at Phillip Island.

After a year of learning the series and national level competition, Gutierrez enters the new season full of confidence along with a fresh new naming rights sponsor in Plus IT.

“I’m super excited about the 2019 season. We will definitely be giving the championship a good crack this year, ” said Gutierrez.

“I can’t wait to see the Plus IT Toyota 86 on the TV. She already looks fantastic in photos.”

“It is going to be an extremely competitive year ahead of us. The talent pool within the category shouldn’t go underestimated, and as last year proved, consistency is going to be extremely important come the last round of the year.”

“We’ve put in a massive amount of work in the background this in the lead up to this season and I can’t express my thanks enough to those who have played a part in all this.”

Gutierrez joined the majority of the Toyota 86 Racing Series field and the recent media and test day at Phillip Island, where he had the opportunity to shakedown his refreshed ride for 2019 and get his eye back in after a long offseason. While no times were officially recorded, the young South Australian felt confident returning the track where he finished just outside the top ten last year on debut.

The 2019 Toyota 86 Racing Series begins this weekend at Phillip Island, racing alongside the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.

All the action will be broadcast live on Fox Sports, channel 506, as well as streamed online by Kayo Sports.

  • Races 1, 2 & 3 Phillip Island – April 12-14
  • Races 4, 5 & 6 Townsville – July 5-7
  • Races 7, 8 & 9 Bathurst – October 10-13
  • Races 10, 11 & 12 Sandown – November 8-10
  • Races 13, 14 & 15 Newcastle – November 22-24
