Just two weeks after the 100th Shannons Nationals round at Phillip Island, we were back on the Hume Highway heading back down to Victoria for the third Shannons Nationals for 2017, this time at Winton Raceway in Benalla.
Being based in Sydney, the start of the year had seen us make many trips up and down the Hume Hwy for events around Victoria. The last of those being the Shannons Nationals at Winton Raceway, well… at least for a couple of months.
Its been a busy few weeks with a lot of back to back events for us. It’s good for business, but it has also meant we’ve spent a lot of time on the road recently. It’s a good thing we like driving!.
It wasn’t just us with a busy schedule. Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge competitors also had back to back events, having also been at the previous Phillip Island Shannons Nationals round, just a couple of weeks prior. It was good to see such a strong grid at Winton with such a short turn around.
Luckily the start of the year hasn’t been quite as busy for the other categories on the card, with Australian Production Cars, Australian Prototype Series and the Australian GT Trophy Series all having had at least a month off between rounds. They provided plenty of good racing over the course of the three days at Winton, headlined by two 300 kilometer Australian Production Cars races.
However, instead of getting into the results of the racing, we’ll showcase a couple of Rhys Vandersyde’s favourite photo’s from the Shannons Nationals at Winton Raceway.
