One thing there isn’t enough in Australia is Open Wheel Racing. So when the opportunity came up to cover the Open Wheel Festival at Wakefield Park, we made sure we had a photographer there to make sure it was covered properly.

While the Open Wheel Festival is not on the same scale as the Bathurst 12 Hour or Supercars, it’s great to get out to these smaller events and smaller venues and make sure that they get the photographic coverage that they deserve.

The compact nature of Wakefield Park makes it a fantastic circuit to capture in a single day. We can make sure we get a to all the vantage points and get a good variety of angles for our customers and media outlets in one day. Which made photographing the race meeting more like capturing a track day or test day, which isn’t a bad thing.

It’s always good to see the upcoming drivers honing their craft in Formula Ford and Formula Vee, we’ll no doubt see them in national level motorsport in the not too distant future. While it’s was particularly good to catch up with the Formula 3 teams that made trip to Wakefield. Hopefully we’ll see some more F3 cars on track in the future.

Now here’s a sampling of Rhys Vandersyde’s photography work from Wakefield Park Open Wheel Festival. If you are looking to purchase photos from the event, either get in touch of contact us via our facebook page. We have photos of all the cars the participated.

Get in touch to if you’d like to know more about our Motorsport Media services. We’ll be track side at the Supercars Test Day Sydney this week before heading to Adelaide for the Clipsal 500.
