Our trip down to Winton for Round 5 of the Virgin Australia Supercars was wet and wild affair.

Heavy rain during Friday’s practice at Winton made for tricky conditions for all the categories. However it made for some spectacular photos, not only the splashes and mud of the cars going off track, but playing with the reflections and spray as well. Even if it took the rest of the weekend to dry out.

The returned on Saturday and Sunday, but that wasn’t the end of the wild action. Both days featured major crash that brought a premature end to a race during the support category action.

Saturday was Formula Ford’s turn, with a massive crash on their opening lap of their first race that took out a few cars, one ending up parked on top of another. Unfortunately we didn’t capture that one.

However we had better luck on Sunday, capturing the full sequence of the massive Touring Car Masters crash between turns two and three. We’re lead to believe those shots will be published in next issue of Auto Action Magazine on sale next week. So keep an eye out for that.

Here’s a small collection of some of Rhys Vandersyde’s favourite Supercars photos from Winton Raceway. You can also find a sampling of our best photos from the support categories in a gallery on our facebook page, as well as some of our customers galleries.
